The Royal Academy of Engineering supports Yunga Technologies, recognizing our innovative approach to engineering solutions. As a resourceful African startup, we’re proud to have gained the esteemed institution’s backing, which focuses on engineering for a sustainable society and an inclusive economy. This support follows our victory as the best Engineering solution for 2023 in the Africa prize of Engineering innovation competitions, solidifying our commitment to making a positive impact.
The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation was launched in March 2014 to stimulate, celebrate and reward innovation and entrepreneurship across sub-Saharan Africa. It is Africa’s leading accelerator for the best engineering innovations on the continent. The Prize offers a unique benefits package that includes an eight month tailored training programme, £25,000 prize money, access to business and technical expertise as well as sector specific engineering mentoring, and access to the Academy’s network of high profile engineers and business experts in the UK and Africa among other benefits.
Following Yunga’s win in the prize, a lot of media publicity and potential partnerships have emerged. We have also been actively taking part in the Alumni program that includes further training, mentorship and exhibitions. We have recently exhibited at the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Engineering at Prince Philip House in Westminster, Uk. All of these have shaped and energized Yunga’s goal of reaching 1 million households by 2030. We are glad of the improved sustainability, employment opportunities and digital security transformation we are causing on the African continent.
